FEATURES
The FMC-101 Fiber Optic Mode Converter provides transparent conversion of fiber optic signals at data rates up to 155 Mbps.
FMC-101 converts between any combination of the following wavelengths:
850 nm multimode
1300 nm multimode
1300 nm single mode.
An optional laser diode can be ordered separately to extend distances over a single mode fiber optic cable.
FMC-101 supports a wide variety of protocols including Ethernet, FDDI, Token Ring, and a variety of ATM rates (such as OC 1, TAXI, OC-3 and STM-1).
Bidirectional mode conversion is performed from 850 nm or 1300 nm on the multimode site to 1300 nm (LED or laser) on the single mode side. A single unit is used for conversion between two devices (see Figure 1); a pair of units is used for connecting a pair of devices with multimode interface over single mode infrastructure (see Figure 2).
FMC-101 operates at data rates up to 155 Mbps, and supports most optical codes. However, multi-level optical codes and uncoded signals are not supported.
Built-in diagnostics support local and remote loopbacks in compliance with ITU V.54 standard. Front panel switches allow manual selection between normal operation and loop performance.
FMC-101 can be ordered with either ST or FC connectors.
FMC-101 is supplied as a standalone unit. It can be mounted in a 19" rack using the TR-RM rack-mount kit for installation of one or two units.
