The weighing system can be either a platform scale where a volumetric feeder is placed on the scale, or an integrated weighing frame with load cell(s).
Weighing frames are available in three sizes, D/35, D/100 and D/300. To determine what size fits your application. Gravimetric feeders can be equipped with different hoppers (agitated or not) and different feed devices to suit the application. The weighing frame is usually supported from the top (mezzanine) and access to the extruder is not impeded. The modularity of this design and all-around access to the feeder makes this line very attractive for plastic compounders, chemical and ceramic manufacturers as well as extruded food producers.
The RVS system was designed in 1982 and patented in 1988 by Arbo Analogtechnik SA of Lugano, Switzerland. Historically, vibratory feeders were mainly limited to open loop, fixed frequency technology with significant limitations in range, performance and reliability. Read more about it here. Tray and hopper configuration can influence a feeder’s performance and are chosen with your material and feed rate in mind.
An integrated close loop feed back system constantly controls frequency and amplitude of the vibratory drive and corrects each deviation immediately. In addition, resonance frequency feeders are extremely energy efficient and nearly maintenance free. In contrast to a screw feeder, which normally produces approx. 2 surges each second on the discharge, a vibratory feeder provides approx. 50 surges. This fact often makes the vibratory feeder in most cases superior to a screw feeder.
