A.G. Scientific, Inc. S-100b Protein, Porcine Brain S-2112

Description
S-100b isoform composed of ββ-subunits, purified from porcine brain. Elevated S-100b serum levels are markers of stroke and cerebral edema. The S-100 proteins are acidic Ca2⺠binding proteins, predominately found in glial cells. Evidence indicates that upon binding to Ca2âº, S-100 proteins expose a hydrophobic domain to the solvent in a form similar to calmodulin. Also reported to regulate, within the cell walls, adenylate cyclase, aldolase activities, ATPase, microtubules, and protein phosphorylation. Product is not for animal treatment use, in vivo research or in other contact procedures involving livestock.
