Gray Zinc-Sele¬Æ 4285 Gray is a high-performance coating designed for steel surfaces, providing excellent corrosion control through cathodic protection due to its high metallic zinc content. It is formulated with a modified silicone resin, making it suitable for exterior applications exposed to temperatures ranging from 300¬8F to 800¬8F (149¬8C to 427¬8C) and mild industrial conditions. This product is intended for use as a two-coat system, requiring application on clean, sandblasted surfaces. The coating appears flat gray and has a dry film thickness recommendation of 1.5 to 3 mils per coat. It offers a theoretical coverage of approximately 964 square feet per gallon at 1 mil dry film thickness, with practical coverage ranging from 275 to 550 square feet per gallon, accounting for material loss. The product has a VOC content of less than 340 g/l and is USDA accepted. It requires heat curing after application, with full hardness achieved by raising the surface temperature to a minimum of 300¬8F for one hour. The shelf life is five years, and it is packaged in 2-gallon containers. Proper surface preparation and application conditions are critical for optimal performance.
