The ProLinx family Modbus Plus to ASCII Generic Serial communications module (5301-MBP-ASCII) creates a powerful connection between devices on a Modbus Plus network and ASCII input devices. The module is a stand-alone DIN-rail mounted protocol gateway that provides one Modbus Plus configurable DB9F port and up to four ASCII configurable serial ports. The Modbus Plus protocol driver exists in dual Modbus Plus Ports (MBP). The driver can be configured on an individual port basis as either a master or a slave to interface with other Modbus Plus devices. The Modbus port is fully configurable, providing a great deal of flexibility. The ASCII protocol driver permits the module to interface to many ASCII devices. Each ASCII port on the module is configurable to send and/or receive ASCII strings, each supporting its own individual serial network.
