The BRAP12-AV High Tolerance Right-Angle Prism is precision polished to tight tolerances for more demanding applications. This protective aluminum coated hypotenuse, AR.14 Coated faces, N-BK7 prism dimension is 0.28 x 0.28 x 0.28 inch (7.0 x 7.0 x 7.0 mm). It has a λ/8 surface flatness and a 40-20 surface quality. Newport's AR.14 broadband IR antireflection coating is applied to the two prism legs and supports a 425 to 675 nm wavelength range. The antireflection coating reduces surface losses yet does not affect total internal reflection or the acceptance angle. This prism is recommended for general laboratory use in the visible range. By means of total internal reflection (TIR), a right-angle prism may be used as a 90° reflector or as a 180° retroreflector. Except for reflection losses from the entry and exit faces, TIR exhibits 100% reflectivity over a very large wavelength range.
