Newport MKS Linear Stage, High-Performance, Low-Profile, 4.0 in. Travel, 1/4-20 443-4

Description
Model 443-4 is a low-profile, precision ball bearing linear stage with a maximum travel range of 4 in. It features exceptional performance, usability and value with a 58-lb. centered load capacity and 1/4-20 mounting holes. Hardened balls rolling between opposing pairs of hardened and polished stainless steel rods allow for stability, repeatability, and exceptionally smooth motion. Two actuators (sold separately) bear against each other, tip-to-tip, to enable up to 4 in. of travel. Springs provide preload against the actuator tips to eliminate backlash. A stable stainless steel actuator mounting system allows your choice of manual or motorized actuators to be attached. Note that this stage does not have a lock and does not include the required two actuators. The following 2-in. travel actuators are recommended and may be ordered separately: AJS100-2 adjustment screw, SM-50 micrometer, and LTA-HS motorized actuator. Ball-bearings Provide Smooth Linear Translation Ball bearings in these stages reduce friction compared with rolling motion to guide linear translation. Although the guide ways are externally loaded to eliminate unwanted runout in the bearings, friction remains negligible to provide smooth travel over the entire range. The motion of each axis can easily be locked in place. Designed to be Reconfigured to Left or Right-Handed These extended range stages are designed with symmetrical features allowing them to be reconfigured for left or right-handed operation. This video shows a 423 stage being reconfigured to have the micrometer accessible from the opposite side of the stage. This is needed to allow the stage to be used for vertical travel but is also useful for improving adjustment accessibility. Note, also, that the lock and the micrometer locations can be switched.

Ball-bearings Provide Smooth Linear Translation

Ball bearings in these stages reduce friction compared with rolling motion to guide linear translation. Although the guide ways are externally loaded to eliminate unwanted runout in the bearings, friction remains negligible to provide smooth travel over the entire range. The motion of each axis can easily be locked in place.

Designed to be Reconfigured to Left or Right-Handed

These extended range stages are designed with symmetrical features allowing them to be reconfigured for left or right-handed operation. This video shows a 423 stage being reconfigured to have the micrometer accessible from the opposite side of the stage. This is needed to allow the stage to be used for vertical travel but is also useful for improving adjustment accessibility. Note, also, that the lock and the micrometer locations can be switched.
