EasyComm is a communication interface enabling developers to access ready-to-use temperature data directly from Optris infrared cameras. Released in 2021, EasyComm processes complex temperature calculations within the device itself, streaming temperature information for all pixels to the user. This is accomplished through the User Datagram Protocol (UDP), a communication model that ensures fast data transfer, though it does not have a handshake mechanism. Infrared cameras with Ethernet interfaces act as UDP clients, continuously dispatching radiometric video data packets to a user-selectable port without initiating the transfer. The UDP server monitors this designated port, facilitating smooth data reception. The standout feature of EasyComm is its seamless integration and OS independence, ensuring it can work with a variety of operating systems, including Linux. However, it only supports images with autonomous mode and functions as a limited control on the infrared camera, operating at a relatively slow speed.EasyComm samples are coded in C# and come with executable examples. The software functions without the need for PIX Connect, except during the initial setup phase.Despite operating at a reduced bandwidth, particularly with the Xi410 model at 1.5 Hz, EasyComm supports real-time data streaming. This limitation is balanced by the software's quick and easy integration, allowing users to retrieve temperature data efficiently with minimal effort. EasyComm is compatible with any operating system and computer architecture, emphasizing its flexibility and broad applicability.
