Anti-CDX-2 antibody has been useful in distinguishing gastrointestinal origin of metastatic adenocarcinomas and carcinoids. A high percentage of mucinous carcinomas of the ovary also stain positively with this antibody as well as carcinomas from the upper gastrointestinal tract.
