IHS ESDU Damping in acoustically excited structures. 73011

Description
ESDU 73011 presents the results of over 500 tests to obtain damping ratio for flat skin-stringer panels with and without viscoelastic jointing compound, for curved skin-stringer panels with viscoelastic jointing compound, for curved and flat integrally-machined skin-stringer panels, and for honeycomb structures. The data are presented as a function of frequency so that the user can readily estimate a damping ratio appropriate to the construction used. Methods of increasing damping are discussed.
