IHS ESDU Effects of kinetic heating on equilibrium temperature of flight vehicles. 69012

Description
ESDU 69012 provides a simple graphical iterative method for solving the heat balance equation (ESDU 69009) to determine the equilibrium temperature distribution on flat plates, two-dimensional wedges, cylinders and cones in constant velocity flight in air. Mach numbers in the range 0 to 5 for both laminar and turbulent boundary layers are covered. To use the method, values of the total normal emissivity and normal total solar absorptivity of the surface are required and a table of values for various materials and pigments is given.
