IHS ESDU The determination of gross thrust and mass flow in flight. (Air breathing ducted-flow engines with convergent nozzles.) 69007

Description
Methods are described for determining engine thrust from in-flight measurements of total pressure, static pressure and total temperature in the gas flow through a turbo-jet or turbo-fan engine. Relationships are given that permit the engine gross thrust and mass flow to be evaluated from a knowledge of the pressures and temperatures in the gas flow. An introduction to the subject is given in ESDU 69006 while ESDU 69008 presents graphical data for use in determining thrust.
