IHS ESDU Local instability of bonded corrugated-core sandwich panels under longitudinal compression. (Symmetrical cores with identical face plates.) 68037

Description
ESDU 68037 provides a graphical presentation of results obtained from the theory of buckling for a wide variety of sandwich panel geometries. Two modes of buckling are considered: when all the elements buckle simultaneously and when transverse members of the core buckle first. The data do not apply to sandwich panels that do not have a complete bond between core and face plate, eg. a riveted assembly. Departures of the theory from practical reality are discussed with relevance to the data presented.
