IHS ESDU Shafts with interference-fit collars. Part IV: fatigue strength of plain shafts. 68005

Description
The results of about 170 fatigue tests of constant diameter shafts with plain collars subjected to rotational bending loads are presented graphically. The data encompass both untreated shafts and rolled or induction/flame hardened shafts. The shafts and collars were manufactured from forged or cast steel and have tensile strengths in the range 510 to 765 MN/sq m (74000 to 119000 lbf/sq in) and shaft diameters between 10 and 240 mm (0.4 to 9.5 in). The shaft/collar geometries cover a wide range of practical values. Notes on the data are also provided.
