Paxon,Ñ¢ AL55-003, also known as ExxonMobil,Ñ¢ HD 5403, is a high density polyethylene (HDPE) blow molding grade characterized by a favorable balance of stiffness and stress crack resistance. It has a density of 0.954 g/cm¬= and a melt index of 0.30 g/10 min, making it suitable for various applications. This product is NSF¬Æ -51 certified and UL recognized, indicating its compliance with certain safety standards. It is applicable in the production of drainage pipes, food packaging, household and industrial chemical containers, pharmaceutical packaging, thermoformed parts, and thin gauge sheets. The material exhibits a deflection temperature under load of 167¬8F (75¬8C) and a Vicat softening temperature of 261¬8F (127¬8C). Its tensile strength at yield is 4100 psi (29 MPa), with an elongation at yield of 9%. The product also demonstrates good environmental stress-crack resistance, lasting 30 hours in a 100% Igepal solution. Engineers considering this material should note that it is not intended for medical applications and should verify compliance with food contact regulations as needed.
