Esterex,Ñ¢ NP451 is a synthetic polyol ester base stock classified as an API category Group V fluid. It exhibits excellent low-temperature properties, good lubricating characteristics, and low volatility, making it suitable for various automotive and industrial lubricant applications. This product can function effectively as a sole basestock or as a blendstock with other synthetic fluids, particularly in high-speed, highly loaded applications where energy efficiency is a priority. Key properties include a specific gravity of 0.993, a kinematic viscosity of 25.0 cSt at 40¬8C, and a pour point of -60¬8C. The product has a viscosity index of 130 and a flash point of 255¬8C. Esterex,Ñ¢ NP451 demonstrates a low Noack volatility of 4.6 wt% and a biodegradation rate of 83.6%, indicating its environmental compatibility. Additionally, it shows good hydrolytic stability with a total acid number of 0.01 mg KOH/g. Compatibility tests with various elastomers indicate significant volume and tensile strength changes, which should be considered in application-specific evaluations.

They can be used as a stand-alone base stock or in combination with other fluids. Most Esterex esters are inherently biodegradable,* making them an appropriate choice for applications in which a lubricant is in contact with the environment.
