Functions include Straight-Through, Increased Strain Relief, Bend Protection, Pull/Bend Protection, Multi-conductor, Flat Cable and EMI/RFI. They can be used with almost any type of cable, cord or conductor - solid, stranded, flat, shielded, high temperature, etc.
