Inhibitor of diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT). Shows inhibitory effect in rat liver microsomes (IC50=10.2 μM) and Raji cells (IC50=15.5 μM). Excessive accumulation of triacetylglycerol produced by DGAT may cause fatty liver, obesity and hypertriglyceridemia , which may lead to atherosclerosis, diabetes and metabolic disorders.
