These inserts are designed to have plastic molded around them in the mold cavity. This process involves the placement of “core pins” into the minor diameter of the inserts prior to molding the plastic. Once the molding operation is complete, the “core pins” are removed leaving the insert encapsulated into the plastic. The mold-in method offers better adhesion of plastic to the insert thereby providing higher torsional and pullout properties than most secondary operations.
