ASME Learning & Development ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code Overview (Online Course)

Description
The ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code covers power piping systems. It tends to have more conservative requirements, compared to the other B31 Code Sections. This is to fulfill the needs for long service life and maximum reliability in power plant installations. This ASME B31.1 course introduces the B31.1 Power Piping Code and explores its relationship with the ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section I - Rules for Construction of Power Boilers, and the requirements for design, fabrication, and testing. The course covers the jurisdictional limits of the ASME B31.1 Code and the ASME BPVC, Section I: Power Boilers, and design issues specific to Power Piping systems. This course also reviews the qualification requirements for operators and operating procedures for ASME Section IX welding code and nondestructive examination requirements. By participating in this course, you will learn how to successfully: Identify the piping systems that fall within the scope of the B31.1 Power Piping Code Describe the jurisdictional limits of the B31.1 Code and the ASME BPVC Section I as they relate to boiler proper, boiler external and non-boiler external piping Explain the B31.1 approach to power piping system design Describe the main design issues specific to Power Piping systems Relate the qualification requirements for operators and operating procedures for welders and brazers Explain how to determine proper heat treatment requirements Determine mandatory minimum nondestructive examination (NDE) requirements and proper leak test selection Who should attend? This course was designed for mechanical engineers, managers, inspectors, welders, anyone involved in piping design, and others with an interest in learning more about the ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code. Course participants are expected to have: Access to computer equipment and a reliable internet connection A calculator Software to display PDF files (such as Adobe Reader) Supplemental Course Materials (not included with course, purchase separately) To learn more about the ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code, please click here. A Certificate of Completion will be issued to participants who successfully complete this course.
