AG 50W-X4 Resin 143-5341
100 g, biotechnology grade cation exchange resin, hydrogen form, 4% crosslinkage, 200-400 dry mesh size, 75-150 µm wet bead size, ~1,400 MW limit AG®, AG-MP, Bio-Rex®, and Chelex® Resins AG (Analytical grade) resins are extensively purified to remove both organic and inorganic impurities. Resins are sized to consistently give narrow wet mesh ranges, which provide high resolution and excellent reproducibility. AG resins are available as both strong and weak cation and anion exchangers and as mixed-bed ion exchangers. Many are available in several ionic forms and can be converted from one form to another. AG resins are primarily used for the separation of low molecular weight compounds such as inorganic ions, organic acids, nucleic acids, or carbohydrates. AG 50W resin, AG MP-50 macroporous resin, and biotechnology grade AG 50W all offer strong acid cation exchange capabilities. The AG resin has been exhaustively sized, purified, and converted to provide accurate, reproducible analytical results. Both resins are useful for single step purification methods, for concentrating cationic solutes, and for analytical determination of various mixed cationic solutes. Both AG 50W and MP-50 have sulfonic acid functional groups attached to a styrene divinylbenzene copolymer lattice. The amount of resin crosslinking determines the bead pore size: a resin with a lower crosslinkage has a more open structure that is more permeable to high molecular weight substances than a highly crosslinked resin. AG MP-50 resin is the macroporous equivalent of AG 50W resin. Its effective surface area approximates 35 square meters per dry gram, or 30–35% porosity. Bio-Rex 70 resin has a carboxylic acid functional group attached to an acrylic matrix. It is a macroreticular resin with a high capacity for high molecular weight compounds and does not denature proteins. It is used for purification and fraction of peptides and proteins. Chelex 100 resin contains paired iminodiacetate ions coupled to a styrene divinylbenzene support. They are unique chelating resins that bind polyvalent cations with high selectivity and are used to remove metal ions from samples and buffers. Molecular Biology and Biotechnology grade resins Molecular biology grade resins, chemically identical to the equivalent analytical grade resins, are certified to be free of endo- and exonuclease activities and ligase inhibitors.
