3M,Ñ¢ Scotch-Weld,Ñ¢ Epoxy Adhesive EC-2086 is a one-part, 100% solids thermosetting adhesive designed for high-strength bonding applications. It exhibits exceptional strength properties across a service temperature range of -70¬8F to 200¬8F (-56¬8C to 93¬8C) and offers superior impact, peel, and bond strength compared to typical epoxy adhesives. The adhesive has a paste viscosity, allowing it to be applied on vertical surfaces without run-off during curing. It adheres well to steel and is suitable for various application methods, including knife coating and high-pressure injection. The adhesive requires heat curing, with optimal bond line temperatures ranging from 330¬8F to 500¬8F (165¬8C to 260¬8C). It demonstrates excellent retention of strength after aging in diverse environments, making it suitable for demanding applications. The product is gray in color and has a net weight of 12 lbs. per gallon. Proper surface preparation is crucial for achieving maximum bond properties, and the adhesive can be cleaned up with ketone-type solvents before curing.
