Brazing and Soldering Services
Service Detail from Solar Atmospheres, Inc.

Vacuum brazing services consist of metal joining processes used to permanently join metal parts. The vacuum brazing services process involves the use of a filler metal that is melted under vacuum and drawn in to the joint by capillary action. The base metal does not melt during the vacuum brazing process. Properly designed braze joints can have strength greater than or equal to the base metal. No flux is used in this process, resulting in ultra-clean parts.
Simple and complex parts, ranging in sizes as small as a pinhead and as large as 36" long, can utilize vacuum brazing services. Since the entire part is heated, extreme differences in the part cross section is not a problem. Distortion is also greatly reduced by the uniform heating and cooling of the assembly. If you have ever welded stainless steel, you are aware of the problems associated with uneven heating. Dissimilar material can also be joined by brazing. Gas atmospheres can be used to enhance the vacuum brazing process. Nitrogen or argon not only prevent alloy evaporation, but also protect the part assembly from oxides and discoloration.
Solar can braze single parts as well as thousands in a single batch. Testing services include flow, vacuum leak, and an ultrasonic C-scan. Assemblies can be certified to AMS, AWS and Mil specifications. Consultation services are available to help you design your part for successful vacuum brazing services.
