The 72C is a capacitance meter from Boonton. Capacitance meters are used to measure discrete capacitors and come in bench and portable varieties.
Additional Features:
Test Frequency: 100 kHz
Measurement range: 1 pF to 3000 pF full scale
DC output response time: 1 ms to full accuracy
3 terminal measurement
0.5% basic accuracy
±600 V external bias capability
Differential inputs
15 mV test level
Programmable
The Boonton 72C is a 100 kHz analog meter and is recommended for series capacitance measurements on very low capacitance junctions where normal series loss can cause the Q of the junction capacitance to fall well below 10 at 1 MHz. In this instance, using 72C takes advantage of the fact that the Q of the capacitor with series loss is inversely proportional to frequency and therefore ten times higher at 100 kHz then at to 1 MHz.
