W&T 81029, Fiber Optic Interface, RS232, 9 pin/PC Low power version for distances <20 meters
The 81029 interface transmits serial RS232 data via plastic duplex fiber over a distance of up to 20 meters. The converter is powered by the serial interface and therefore does not require an additional power supply, only placing a 2mA load on the connected RS232 interface. With this version it is possible to run on lower-power RS232 interfaces without the need for an additional voltage source, but it is always possible to externally power the interface with up to 9V using its handshake inputs, or to use fiber-optic interfaces having their own power supply (e.g. model 81201).
