Visual Sound, Inc. Sonnex™ Multiroom Audio Expander SWAMPE-8

Crestron Electronics, Inc. Adds 8 stereo amplified zones to a Sonnex Multiroom audio system. The SWAMPE-8 is an 8-zone expander for the Sonnex™ Multiroom Audio System (SWAMP-24X8) from Crestron®. It adds 8 stereo amplified zones supporting full room control and source selection, with advanced DSP, speaker profiles, output bussing, mono summing, amplifier bridging and monitoring. The SWAMPE-8 interfaces with the SWAMP-24X8 via a single CAT5e shielded twisted pair (STP) cable up to 200 ft (61 m) in length[1]. Plug-and-play connectivity affords an extremely easy installation, affording full control access to all the SWAMPE-8 functions through the SWAMP-24X8. While the main SWAMP-24X8 unit resides in the central equipment rack along with all the source devices, the SWAMPE-8 is ideally designed for installation at a remote location near the rooms it serves. This "decentralized" approach minimizes speaker wiring for higher performance and efficiency, and a faster, easier and less expensive installation. Like the SWAMP-24X8, the SWAMPE-8 delivers a generous 140 Watts into 8 Ohms and 240 Watts into 4 Ohms per each of 16 channels (configured as 8 zones), and is bridgeable for 400 Watts per channel at 8 Ohms. Even with such incredible power, the SWAMPE-8 runs cool and efficiently, requiring just a 15A 120 Volt AC circuit for power, and three rack spaces for mounting.
