Visual Sound, Inc. The DVI Detective Plus EXT-DVI-EDIDP

Description
Gefen LLC is a small device that memorizes a DVI video display's identity information (EDID) in order to guarantee interruption-free switching between DVI video sources. The DVI Detective Plus: An Easier Way to Store EDID for HDTV. Computers and HDTV video sources can sometimes lose the EDID information -- basically the electronic identification of a display which lists its video timings, possible resolutions and frequencies. When displays are switched away or disconnected and then reconnected, the EDID can be lost and the computer or HDTV video source device can lose the ability to display the image properly. The Gefen DVI Detective Plus allows your computer or HD source to memorize the EDID, then switch or relocate HD displays while tricking the source devices into thinking that the display is still present. How does it Work? Simply program the DVI Detective Plus for the display that you will use, by performing a programming step while having the device connected to the display and a power adapter. Next, put the DVI Detective Plus onto the DVI video output of your video source. The Plus model has external buttons that make EDID programming a breeze -- formerly, some operations could require opening the unit. In addition, the new Plus model now includes the ability to force any of 4 generic EDIDs from common home theater HDTV setups with multi-channel audio, in case video equipment does not detect the display's EDID properly and ends up in an indeterminate state.
