Alloy 61 is used for TIG, MIG, and submerged-arc welding of Nickel 200 and 201, and for overlaying on steel. There is a reaction of carbon with titanium during the welding process so there is a low level of free carbon which permits Alloy 61 to be used on Nickel 201. Dissimilar welding applications of Alloy 61 include; joining Monel type alloys and copper-nickel alloys to carbon steel; Inconel and Incoloy type alloys to copper-nickel alloys and Monel alloys.
