The BC179 is a PNP bipolar transistor in a TO-18 metal package, designed for general purpose and low noise audio applications. It has a collector-emitter breakdown voltage of -20V, a continuous collector current of -100mA, and a power dissipation of 300mW at 25°C. The device features a DC current gain range of 125 to 260 for the BC179A variant and 240 to 500 for the BC179B variant.
