Texas Instruments Power Over Ethernet (PoE) Controllers TPS2383PMR

The TPS2383PMR is a Power Over Ethernet (PoE) controller compliant with the IEEE 802.3af standard, designed for power sourcing equipment (PSE) applications. It can manage power delivery for up to eight Ethernet ports, allowing for the discovery and classification of powered devices (PDs). The device features a dual 25-k,Ѷ resistor discovery mechanism and capacitive detection for non-compliant legacy loads. This controller supports controlled di/dt ramp power-up and power-down to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) and includes current management for charging the bulk capacitance of powered devices. It also incorporates fault detection, input undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and an electronic circuit breaker for enhanced safety. The TPS2383PMR operates through a standard I2C serial interface, enabling easy integration and control. It provides per-port status monitoring, including current and voltage acquisition, and features dual color LED drivers for visual status indication. The device is packaged in a 64-pin LQFP and requires a single +48-V supply, simplifying power supply design. It is suitable for applications such as PoE switches and mid-span injectors.
