The LMS1487IM/NOPB is a low power RS-485/RS-422 differential bus transceiver designed for high-speed bidirectional data communication on multipoint bus transmission lines. It operates from a single 5V power supply and supports data rates up to 2.5 Mbps. The device complies with ANSI standards TIA/EIA RS-422-B and TIA/EIA RS-485-A, making it suitable for various applications, including network hubs, point of sale equipment, and industrial controllers. This transceiver features a TRI-STATE differential line driver and a differential input receiver, which can be externally configured for direction control. It allows for up to 128 transceivers on the bus and includes thermal shutdown and short circuit protection. The LMS1487 also offers an extended operating temperature range of -40¬8C to 85¬8C, making it suitable for use in harsh environments. It is available in both 8-pin SOIC and DIP packages and serves as a drop-in replacement for Maxim's MAX1487.
