Doctor Preload tools quickly and accurately adjust wheel-end bearings for optimum tire life of heavy-duty trucks. Temper-Loc spindle nuts securely lock the setting.
Each nut has a relief at the backface to allow the load arms of Doctor Preload to squeeze the bearings together with the accurately set valve of preload.
The process is simple... first the load is raised to about 3500 pounds (roll-in load) so that the wheel can be spun 3 revolutions and "settle-in" the bearing rollers. Then the force is reduced to the set valve shown on the gage and the nut hand tightened against the bearing face, capturing the accuracy set preload. Takes less than a minute!
The nut is safely secured with the retaining ring with three tabs trapped in engagement within the nut groove. Easily visible notches are inserted into the retaining groove of the nut for security of the wheel and bearing setting.
