System of Systems, Inc. Icing & Freezing Rain Chambers

Description
Icing & Freezing Rain Testing Icing and freezing rain tests evaluate the effect icing may have on the operational capability of materials and de-icing equipment. Custom processes can be added to our standard design that generate ice conditions typically seen at high altitudes in super-cooled clouds. We can design your system to produce any specific ice for your testing requirements: Glaze, Soft Rime, Hard Rime, and Designer ice types. IFR Chamber Designs Our state of the art, fully automated design provides the operator with exceptional control. The ability to build specific ice types and even ice thickness on all sides of a test item at a known accumulative rate sets this system apart from others. As with all our chamber designs we take extra care to design industrial grade processes and give you the ability to customize those processes to meet your customer's test requirements.

Datasheet Summary
Powered by GS/AI

The Icing and Freezing Rain Chamber from System of Systems, Inc. is designed to conduct rigorous testing of materials and de-icing equipment under simulated icing and freezing rain conditions. It features a customizable enclosure with a 6-inch thick polyisocyanurate core insulated panel and a stainless steel interior, ensuring durability and effective insulation. The chamber includes an automated rotating table that accommodates test items weighing up to 650 kg, providing even ice distribution. It is equipped with a sophisticated water system that utilizes propylene glycol for freeze protection down to -30°C, along with automated chilled water temperature control to within 1°C. The system captures and reuses waste heat to prevent ice build-up on evaporator coils, enhancing efficiency. Control is facilitated through a NEMA 4, UL508A control panel with Allen Bradley components, allowing for PLC automated process control and remote operation via Ethernet. The HMI color touchscreen provides user-friendly access to system status and test parameters, while a backup data recorder ensures data integrity. Optional features include an ice thickness recorder for real-time measurements and various add-on processes to support different testing standards, such as MIL-STD 810H. This chamber is suitable for engineers seeking a robust solution for testing under extreme icing conditions.
