The L6564D is a current mode Power Factor Correction (PFC) controller designed to operate in transition mode, housed in a compact 10-pin SSOP package. It features a highly linear multiplier and a proprietary correction circuit that minimizes crossover distortion, ensuring low total harmonic distortion (THD) across a wide load range. The device includes an accurate internal voltage reference with a tolerance of 1% at 25 ¬8C, and employs voltage feed-forward for improved line transient response during both drops and surges. Key protective features include adjustable output overvoltage protection, feedback loop failure protection, brownout detection, and inductor saturation protection. The totem-pole output stage can drive high power MOSFETs or IGBTs with a sourcing capability of 600 mA and sinking capability of 800 mA. This makes the L6564D suitable for switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) up to 400 W, particularly in applications requiring compliance with EN61000-3-2 and JEITA-MITI standards.
