The SEM1000 is a loop-powered process signal isolator designed for integration into (4 to 20) mA current loops. It provides galvanic isolation with a flash test rating of 500 V DC and is capable of driving loads up to 300 Oc. The device features high accuracy at 0.05% and requires no user adjustments during commissioning, although minor calibration can be performed via front panel potentiometers. It is protected against reverse connection and has a maximum loop supply voltage of 35 V. The SEM1000 operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 70 ¬8C and is constructed from grey polyamide, suitable for snap-on mounting on DIN rails. Its compact dimensions of 60 x 60 x 12.5 mm allow for efficient use of space in installations.
The SEM1000 series of loop powered analogue signal isolators comprises versions that are suitable for most applications, regardless of whether the loop power is available at the input or output side of the isolator. There
is also a loop 'splitter' which produces two completely isolated outputs from a single input.
Various special applications can be realised such as loop boosting and driving into 900 ohms from a barrier protected IS circuit, using the SEM1020 low cost version.
The small size of the SEM1000 series enables many more units to now be installed in the same physical space.
Their high accuracy permits the addition of isolation to systems without significantly degrading the overall system performance. The zero and span adjustment potentiometers can be used to remove any system errors.
