SPIROL Series KP200 Straight Knurled Pins are designed for press-fit applications in plastics and soft materials, featuring full-length straight knurls that increase retention by displacing host material into the knurl valleys. Pins are available in metric diameters from 2 mm to 6 mm and inch diameters from .078" to .250", with chamfered ends for reliable automatic insertion. Retention is achieved through mechanical interference, not hole compression. Recommended hole sizes range from .078" to .253" depending on diameter, with length options from 20 mm to 40 mm (0.787" to 1.575"). Pins are manufactured from low carbon steel or austenitic stainless steel, with plain or passivated finishes. All KP200 pins are headless and intended for use in applications requiring enhanced shear strength and precise hole location alignment.
"SPIROL® Series KP200 Straight Knurled Pins are have full-length straight knurls and their multi-crested design evenly distributes the retention force—making them the ideal pins for soft materials and thin cross-sections.
• Numerous points of contact with the host distributes the radial stress in a uniform fashion.
• On helical knurled pins, a 30° knurl causes the pin to rotate as it enters the hole creating more surface contact with the host. This results in higher friction forces, greater engagement and improved resistance to back out.
• The pin should always be harder than the host. If additional hardness is required to keep the knurls from shearing, the pins can be case hardened if .125” (3 mm) or larger.
