Si8941AD-IS4 devices are galvanically isolated delta-sigma modulators. The low voltage, differential input has a ±62.5 mV specified input range which allows for reduced power loss vs. industry standard 250 mV input when measuring voltage across a current shunt resistor or for any place where a sensor must be isolated from the control system. The output is a 1-bit datastream whose average represents the input analog voltage. This datastream is synchronous to an external clock. Low offset and gain drift ensure that accuracy is maintained over the entire operating temperature range of -40 to +125˚C. Exceptionally high common mode transient immunity results in accurate measurements even in the presence of high power switching like would be found in a motor drive system or inverter. It supports 5 kV withstand voltage per UL1577 in a wide-body stretched SOIC-8 package. This technology enables higher performance, reduced variation with temperature and age, tighter part-to-part matching and longer lifetimes compared to other isolation technologies.
