This SEPAC model spring engaged brake is electromagnetically released and can be used either dry or in oil depending on the type of friction material used. OPERATION: When electrical current is supplied to the coil, the armature is attracted to the magnet body releasing the disc to turn freely. When current is stopped, springs push the armature to clamp the friction disc providing the stopping torque. Manual release screws can be provided. Many specials and options are available.
