Ellipse-A is a small-sized high performance Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS). It provides Roll, Pitch, Heading, and Heave data.
This light-weight sensor (45 grams) includes a MEMS-based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) integrating three gyroscopes, three magnetometers, and three accelerometers. Running an extended Kalman filter (EKF), the Ellipse-A provides accurate orientation data in both static and dynamic conditions.
High Accuracy for Such a Small Sensor:
0.1° Roll and Pitch over 360°
1° Heading (Internal Magnetometers)
5 cm Real-time Heave, adjusted to the wave period
Key features:
Very Low Noise Gyroscopes
IP 68 Enclosure
200 Hz Output Rate
RS-232, RS-422, and CAN Interfaces
Binary, NMEA, ASCII, and TSS Protocols
Highly Rugged to Vibrations and Magnetic Disturbances
Vibrations: Internal FIR filters coupled with Coning & Sculling integrals to provide efficient vibration rejection.
Calibration: Intensively tested and calibrated from -40 to 85°C for consistent data in all conditions (the Calibration Report is shipped with the sensor).
Iron Disturbances: Ellipse sensors are highly rugged to magnetic disturbances. To go even further, a magnetic calibration tool is embedded in the inertial sensor. It allows quick in-field soft and hard magnetic disturbances compensation.
Applications
Marine
Ellipse-A is the smallest inertial sensor of its class to provide heave data. Mounted on a buoy or a vessel, it adjusts automatically to the wave period for more accurate measurements. It is also perfectly suited to subsea applications to compensate single beam sonar or to orientate Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV).
Land
Ellipse-A is a powerful and cost-effective solution to measure the orientation of cameras, antennas, or scientific equipment embedded on a car, a truck, or a UGVs, etc. It provides accurate time-stamped data for precise synchronization.
Aerospace
Ellipse-A is a cost-effective AHRS which provides outstanding performance. With its robust IP68 enclosure, its high output rate, and its extended dynamic temperature calibration (-40° to 85°C), it operates perfectly in aerospace applications, especially for on-board equipment orientation or stabilization.
OEM Version
This lighter version of the Ellipse-A will benefit to designers who are searching for high performance in a light-weight (12 grams) and compact package.
This OEM version is more robust and easier to integrate than traditional PCB boards OEM modules.
Development Kit
SBG Systems has designed a powerful and easy-to-use Development Kit. In just a few seconds, you start evaluating and configuring your inertial sensor and integrate it in your system.
