Norseal V820 is a very soft, closed-cell polyvinyl chloride foam designed for easy compression and adaptability to irregular surfaces. It is dimensionally stable under compression, ensuring it will not drip, ooze, or shift during use. The foam can withstand a wide temperature range, making it suitable for various climates, and features low deflection force, which prevents distortion of thin gauge plastics and metals. The V820 series is flame resistant, meeting FMVSS 302 standards, and is available in standard thicknesses ranging from 0.125 to 0.9 inches (3.2 to 23 mm). It is commonly used in applications such as refrigeration display cases, electronic cabinets, and environmental seals. The product is offered in master rolls with widths between 48 to 56 inches (1219 to 1422 mm), with special sizes available upon request. Performance characteristics include a density of 6 lbs./cu. ft. (96.1 kg/m¬=), a Shore 00 hardness of 10, and a compression set of 4%. The recommended service temperature range is from -30¬8F to 180¬8F (-34¬8C to 82¬8C). Proper surface preparation is essential for optimal adhesion, and the product has a shelf life of six months when stored correctly.
Norseal closed-cell foam tapes function as a gasket, forming a "seal" to prevent air, vapor, moisture and sound infiltration. A proper gasket will interface between two dissimilar surfaces. Unlike traditional sealing methods like caulks, mastics or pre-compressed materials, our foam tapes are easier to handle, compressible to create a superior seal, and will dampen vibration.
