Saint-Gobain NorPro Grid Bar Supports Model 4817

Description
Saint-Gobain NorPro's Model 4817 grid bar support systems utilize bars of Aludur® ceramic having much greater mechanical strength than the best chemical porcelain or other refractory material. This exceptional strength permits the use of thinner bars and greater center-to-center spacing. Aludur® grid bar support systems are ideal for use as primary supports in sulfuric acid absorbers, driers, and coolers, and in other highly corrosive applications in large diameter towers. Although limited to a maximum individual bar length of 84" (2.13m), grid bars may be used in towers of any diameter through the use of mid-span supports. At 83%, the open area of Aludur® grid bar systems far exceed that of typical dome supports. This greater open area means lower pressure drop or greater hydraulic capacity. In fact, the potential capacity increase is as high as 60%. Grid bars work equally well with stacked or loose fill packing. When used with loose fill packing, Saint-Gobain NorPro recommends a secondary layer of grid blocks on top of the primary grid bar supports.
