Saint-Gobain’s #171 is a spherical white magnesium aluminate (Spinel) powder used primarily for resurfacing parts that require high thermal shock resistance. These coatings resist wetting by liquid aluminum, making it ideal for resurfacing molds, ladles, ladle plugs, ladle lips & other furnace parts. The product is also used for coating oxygen sensors to protect against gas erosion & to control permeability.
