The ISL8002B is a synchronous step-down DC/DC converter capable of delivering up to 2A of continuous output current with an input voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V. It operates at a switching frequency of 2MHz, which enhances transient response and allows for the use of smaller inductors. The device features peak current mode control, enabling low duty cycle operation and high efficiency, with peak efficiencies reaching up to 95%. The ISL8002B integrates low rDS(ON) MOSFETs, eliminating the need for a boot capacitor and reducing the external component count. It supports both Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) operation modes, optimizing efficiency at light loads while maintaining fast transient response. The device includes several protection features such as overcurrent, short-circuit, and thermal protection, as well as undervoltage lockout and output overvoltage protection. Housed in a compact 8-lead TDFN package with an exposed pad for improved thermal performance, the ISL8002B is suitable for various applications including industrial, instrumentation, medical equipment, FPGAs, and telecom networking.
