The ISL6522CVZR5190 is a buck and synchronous rectifier pulse-width modulator (PWM) controller designed for high-performance microprocessor applications. It drives two N-Channel MOSFETs in a synchronous rectified buck topology, integrating control, output adjustment, monitoring, and protection functions into a single package. The output voltage can be regulated as low as 0.8V with a tolerance of ±1% across temperature and line voltage variations. This controller features a simple single feedback loop with voltage-mode control, ensuring fast transient response. It includes a 200kHz free-running triangle-wave oscillator adjustable from below 50kHz to over 1MHz, and an error amplifier with a 15MHz gain-bandwidth product and 6V/µs slew rate, allowing for high converter bandwidth. The PWM duty ratio ranges from 0% to 100%. Protection against overcurrent conditions is provided by inhibiting PWM operation, utilizing the rDS(ON) of the upper MOSFET, which eliminates the need for an additional current sensing resistor. The ISL6522CVZR5190 operates from +5V or +12V input and is available in a 14-lead TSSOP package. It is suitable for applications such as power supplies for various microprocessors and low-voltage distributed power supplies.
