The ISL6520ACBZ is a single synchronous buck pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller designed for DC/DC step-down converters. It operates from a +5V input and can regulate output voltages as low as 0.8V with a tolerance of ±1.5% across temperature and line voltage variations. The device integrates control, output adjustment, monitoring, and protection functions into an 8-lead package, simplifying design and enhancing efficiency. This controller features a fixed frequency oscillator at 300kHz, which aids in reducing design complexity. It employs a voltage-mode control with a fast transient response, supported by a high-bandwidth error amplifier with a 15MHz gain-bandwidth product and an 8V/ms slew rate. The PWM duty cycle can range from 0% to 100%. Overcurrent protection is achieved through monitoring the rDS(ON) of the upper MOSFET, eliminating the need for a current sense resistor and thereby improving efficiency.
