The ISL6439CB is a single synchronous buck PWM controller designed for DC-DC step-down conversion, particularly suitable for broadband gateway applications. It operates with input voltages ranging from 3.3V to 5V and can regulate output voltages as low as 0.8V with a tolerance of ±1.5% across varying load and temperature conditions. The controller features a simple single-loop voltage-mode control design, which enhances transient response and allows for PWM duty cycles from 0% to 100%. This device integrates control, output adjustment, monitoring, and protection functions, driving N-channel MOSFETs in a synchronous topology. It includes a high-bandwidth error amplifier with a 15MHz gain-bandwidth product and a slew rate of 6V/µs, ensuring fast transient performance. Overcurrent protection is achieved through monitoring the rDS(ON) of the upper MOSFET, eliminating the need for a current sense resistor and improving efficiency.
