The PROTAVIC¬Æ PNE 40824-B is a two-component, solvent-free, electrically insulating epoxy adhesive designed for protection against heat, humidity, and mechanical damage. It is particularly suitable for applications in Set-Top Boxes (STBs) to prevent chip detachment. The adhesive exhibits excellent mechanical properties, maintaining performance at temperatures up to 300¬8C. When mixed, the product has a density of approximately 1.15 and a pot life of 20 ¬± 10 minutes at 65¬8C. The recommended curing schedule is 20 minutes at 65¬8C or 2 to 7 days at temperatures above 25¬8C. The mixed adhesive has a Shore D hardness of 90 to 95 and a lap shear strength exceeding 5.0 MPa at 20¬8C. The product is packaged in 60-gram twin-tube syringes with a mixer nozzle, facilitating easy mixing and application. It is important to store the components at room temperature and to ensure substrates are properly degreased before bonding to achieve optimal adhesion.

Used alone, the PROTAVIC® PNE 40824-A and PROTAVIC® PNE 40824-B exhibits excellent mechanical properties up to 300°C.
It also may be used in combination with epoxy or fiberglass covers in order to obtain an almost indestructible protective layer.
