The PR5401 is a four-quadrant photodiode from PREMA Semiconductor GmbH, featuring two differential pairs of photodiodes with integrated amplifiers. It is designed to provide an output voltage of Vcc/2 under uniform illumination, with output dependent on the balance of light across the photodiode pairs. The device is available in two formats: as a bare die (PR5401-BD) with a die size of 2,500 ¬µm x 900 ¬µm, and in a compact optical DFN package (PR5401-TM) measuring 1.8 mm x 2.9 mm. The photodiode operates with a supply voltage range of 2.5 V to 8 V and has a typical supply current of 0.23 mA. It is suitable for applications such as light beam alignment, 2D optical tracking, and tilt sensing. The device has a spectral sensitivity range from 500 nm to 950 nm, with peak sensitivity at 800 nm. It can withstand operating temperatures from -40¬8C to 85¬8C and has ESD protection rated at 4 kV.
The optical sensor IC PR5401 consists of two pairs of photodiodes placed in opposite quadrants with differential amplifiers. If illuminated uniformly, the output is Vcc/2, but depends on the balance of illumination on each pair.
