The PR 5101 is an incremental encoder featuring on-chip A/B and Z photodiodes designed for high tolerance against ambient light and simplified assembly. It offers an angular resolution of up to 2500 increments with a 12.8 mm average A/B track radius, ensuring precise motion detection. The encoder includes a highly accurate Z index channel for absolute angle reference detection, utilizing an innovative measurement method. Its differential measurement system between interwoven photodiodes A, A', B, and B' enhances common mode light rejection. Additionally, the PR 5101 provides U, V, and W channels for commutation signals, making it suitable for brushless motor applications. This encoder is applicable in various fields, including automation technology, pumps, printers, and household appliances.
Often, the regulation of a circular motion is related to the registration of the direction and the speed of the rotation. Both can be determined with an optical encoder including LED, encoder disk, mask (reticle) and photodiode (PR5101). Beside photodiodes, amplifiers are also integrated into the chip to generate signals with high resolution, In addition to encoder ICs, also available at PREMA:
Printed circuit board (PCB)
encoder disk
mask/reticle
LED
Based on request, dimensions and resolution of the encoder disk are adapted. Additional functions are integrated into the receiver chip that afford an easy handling while mounting. Due to its compact dimensions, PR5202 can be utilized in mini-applications.
Applications:
automation technology
pumps
printer
household appliance (e.g. bread cutter)
motors
