Pickering Electronics Series 86-87 87-1-A-24/8D

Description
These ranges of reed relays are essentially the same as the dry Series 80 and 85 and the mercury wetted Series 88 and 89 but with coil resistances between 2 and 3 times higher. This feature is particularly useful when using large numbers of relays, to reduce overall current requirements and heating effects, or when the available coil drive power is restricted, for example, in battery operated equipment. Many special resistances are available, and relays can be designed to customers specific requirements. These Pickering reed relays fit straight onto P.C. boards with pins on 0.1 inch grid. They are completely protected, being encapsulated with plastic covers. All relays are fitted with internal magnetic screens to avoid stray magnetic interaction between adjacent relays. The Series 86 and 87 are electrically identical ranges but offer alternative pin configurations. These are shown overleaf.

Datasheet Summary
Powered by GS/AI

The Pickering Series 87 reed relay is a 1 Form A dry switch device with a 24 V nominal coil voltage and an internal diode, designed for PCB mounting on a 0.1 inch grid. It features an encapsulated plastic package with an internal mu-metal magnetic screen to prevent stray magnetic interactions. The switch is rated for 10 W at 200 V, with a maximum carry current of 1.2 A and a maximum switching current of 0.5 A. Typical life expectancy is 1 × 10⁷ operations at maximum resistive load. The relay operates from -20 to +85 °C, with an optional extension to +125 °C via increased coil drive voltage. Pin configuration matches the Series 86, and the device is sized at 1.14 in (29.0 mm) in length, 0.39 in (9.9 mm) width, and 0.52 in (13.2 mm) height for the 1 Form A layout.
